As part of measures to sustain the uprising profile and also Security of life and properties, the League Management Company handlers of the Nigerian Premier League are working with the Nigerian Police force to set up a special Police force which will be providing Security at the various match Venues across the Country which is a fantastic development.

The development came as Nigeria Football Federation called for useful information on raging match fixing allegation against some key personalities in the league.
Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko, disclosed this at joint press briefing between the league and the NFF in Abuja. He said referees security would be given top priority starting from their arrival at host cities and departure. He said discussion on the special squad began during the tenure of former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Abba and would be represented to the current holder.
Dikko also disclosed plan of the LMC to interface with the Nigeria Governors Forum in a bid to find lasting solution to the nonpayment of salaries and other entitlement owned players by the various clubs. Over 80% percent of Premier League clubs are run and funded by State governments.
The joint briefing was called to highlight fresh initiative adopted by both the league and NFF which now see clubs win matches away from home.
As at Match Day 14, the league has witnessed 14 away victories and 37 draws, a feat in comparison to past trends in the league. NFF's 1st Vice President and Chairman of Organising Committee of NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi, said the briefing which would be a regular meeting between the various leagues and the federation was geared towards building synergy among them.
He reasoned that growth of the leagues have stalled in the past because of lack of cooperation between the operators who he said work independently.
“ The Federation realises that the leagues are the life blood of football and has come out with this initiative to work with them and see how to enhance what they are doing,” he said adding that the federation would continue to sanction referees whose performance fall short of standard.
Meanwhile, NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, has admitted receiving FIFA’s query regarding allegation of match fixing against a referee, NRA top official and a club and called for useful information to unravel the allegation. Meanwhile Nnewi based Moneybags IfeanyiUbah FC have sacked their Bulgarian manager and appointed a new manager.
