Revealed: Chelsea new boy was rejected by three Premier League strugglers

Chelsea new boy was rejected by three Premier League strugglers

Jose Mourinho has eventually pulled off a late panic deal for Papy Djilobodji even though the player was rejected by THREE Premier League strugglers….hmmm eye opening!
The Senegal international defender was offered to Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland, who all turned him down, only for the 26-year-old to end up at the Champions door step  in a bargain relatively cheap £2.7million switch.

Djilobodji has a reputation for being rash and erratic the reason at least one of the clubs turned down the chance to sign him from French club Nantes.
He however is versatile and can play in midfield, also had one year left on his contract, which is the main reason he was available on the cheap.
The champions have completed the deal presently with Nantes already confirming the deal through a statement reading that the Senagalese has signed on a four-year-deal worth a reported £2.7m.
Chelsea had set their sights on Everton defender John Stones but were rebuffed four times this window with their final offer being £37m but would likely go back for him in January. Mourinho had eventually switched attention to other options but also missed out on Zenit St Petersburg's Argentina international centre-back Ezequiel Garay.
The Chelsea boss has been left frustrated by a lack of new signings this summer and Djilobodji must be seen as a serious gamble on the part of the Londoners.
