Arsenal started their Pre-season preparations on a good note although without new star signing Petr Cech who might eventually make his debut against Everton on Saturday. They dispatched a selected Singapore XI 4-0 with young striker Chuba Akpom scoring a hat-trick.
Arsene Wenger the Arsenal Boss always speaks of Pre-season as a wonderful chance to blood and gradually integrate the young side of the squad and he kept to his word once again as he always seems to do with youngsters such as Nigerian born Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom making the starting line up and others such as Crowley, Zelalem coming on in the Second half.
Arsenal were in control for most of the game as expected playing their normal fluid passing game but it took till about the stroke of half time for the deadlock to be broken with Akpom firing home after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Iwobi and Jack Wilshere had combined.
Wilshere added a second from the spot on the hour after Mathieu Debuchy, who impressed at right-back, was felled in the box.
Arsene Wenger withdrew the senior midfielders that were in action as the game wore on in persistent 30 degree heat, but the youngsters twisted the knife and Akpom grabbed his second from another penalty before powering home a header after good work down the right from Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal will now play Everton, who had beaten Stoke earlier on, in the Barclays Asia Trophy final on Saturday.
