The gunners continued their preseason by thrashing French side Lyon 6-0 in their Emirates Cup opener this afternoon. It was a generally good all round performance for the gunners as the normal discontent and disbelieve which has clouded the gunners preparations into recent seasons has been dispelled and there is total calm and assurance all over the Emirates.
Among the Goals were Olivier Giroud, Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Carzola.
Record signing Mesut Ozil who has previously been a target of the Arsenal boo boys was obviously the best player on the pitch today and the German is winning over his doubters and looks set to continue where he left off last season, which he finished in superb form.
After watching Ozil set up two goals and score one of his own, Wenger said: “He had a difficult start to last season and was out injured, but, in the second half of the season, he won over our fans. He is now feeling the reactions of the crowd and he has their support. Hopefully, he can deliver for a full season.”
