Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has something of a cult following among the club’s fans, which was enhanced after his goal in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup final.

Nicknamed ‘BFG’, Germany’s Eurosport channel decided to kindly explain what the term stands for while describing the headed goal that helped ensure an emphatic victory.
The goal was just Mertesacker’s second of the season but he was clearly delighted to have scored in such an important game.
