Nigerian telecommunication giants and main sponsor of the Glo premier league Globacom have expressed profound delight at the present situation and direction the current Premier league sason has attained after 13 weeks of action. The race for the title has not been as keen as it is now, as fresh contenders; Sunshine Stars of Akure, Wikki Tourists of Bauchi and Ifeanyi Ubah FC of Nnewi are running neck-and-neck at the top with former champions, Enyimba FC of Aba and Pillars FC of Kano struggling on the log.

"We are delighted to note the intense competition in the league so far and can only expect increased competition among the clubs," Globacom said in a statement in Lagos yesterday.
"As the season enters Week 14 this week, we expect the tempo to increase across all centers as clubs intensify efforts at picking the three points at stake," the statement added.
Glo stated further: "We believe that the recent three-week break allowed the players to rest and the clubs to re-strategise. This has manifested in the stiff competition that we are currently witnessing. “We are also impressed with the performance of Warri Wolves’ striker, Gbolahan Salami in the Super Eagles AFCON qualifier against Chad recently in Kaduna where he scored a goal in Nigeria’s 2-0 win.
“We hope other League players will also work hard to earn national team invitation and excel, thus justifying our objective of partnering with relevant stakeholders to build a league that is comparable with any league anywhere in the world,” stressed the statement.
The telecommunications company also urged clubs in the Glo Premier League to continue to justify the relevance of domestic league players in the national teams. “At the end of the day, the huge investment in the development of players plying their trade in the country would be justified if they form the backbone of the national team,” Globacom said.
“We are equally delighted that the fans have renewed their interest in the league by trooping to the stadia in large numbers to cheer their teams,” the statement concluded.

Why do I think that Ifeanyi Ubah FC would eventually win the league this season
