Alderweireld moving to the spuds
Tottenham have almost agreed an £11.5million deal for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld. Chairman
Daniel Levy spent the weekend in Madrid the Spanish Capital, locked in serious transfer talks with Atletico's chief executive Miguel Angel Gil over a deal for the
Belgian Defender who is also wanted on permanent basis at Southampton who he was on loan for all of last season. But it looks almost certain that the club would be disappointed in the race to land the 26-year-old after Tottenham Chairman Levy took matters into his own hands.
It is however understood that a fee for the defender has now been agreed, though
some other necessary details of the transfer deal would still need to be finalised and Spurs are now very confident of concluding a deal for Alderweireld next week.
Southampton initially had a £6.8million option to buy Alderweireld, but Spanish side Athletico Madrid, the player's parent club cancelled
the clause for £1.5m in order to sell to the highest bidder.
Southampton could still sign Alderweireld but will need to match or surpass Tottenham's £11.5m bid.
