Sami Khedira delighted for Juve move, insists Champions League finalists are on par with Real Madrid


German International Sami Khedira has expressed his delight at joining Champions League finalists Juventus and insists he doesn't see his move from the Los Blancos to the Old lady as a backward step in his career.

The 28-year-old joined the Serie A champions on a four-year contract at the beginning of the month after leaving Real on a free transfer.

During his five years at the Bernabeu the German International won the Spanish La L Liga title once, the Copa del Rey twice and the UEFA Champions League in 2014.  Juventusmeanwhile  re-established themselves as a European force in their run to the Champions League final last season  a run which included the Italian giants knocking Real out at the semi-final stage and Khedira believes that reason, associated with the quality of the Italian top-flight, means his move to Turin is another positive one in his career.

'I wanted a fresh challenge and Juventus give me just that,' the Germany international told reporters. 'They're on the same level as Real Madrid.
'It will be a real honour for me to play in this league. It's a tough championship and full of strong sides.

'I don't consider the Italian league to be inferior. It's a high-quality championship and tactically challenging.
'Juve have displayed their ability to compete with top European clubs. I'm here to reach another Champions League final.'
