Southampton will not
deny French midfield destroyer Morgan Schneiderlin the chance to join
Manchester United but boss Ronald Koeman has warned that he will not leave on
the cheap and United’ll have to pay the full worth of the player. Some weeks ago United had already offered
£20million for Schneiderlin but have been informed to come back with a fee
closer to £30m if they are serious about landing the France midfielder.
'Every player has
his price and we have a good experience of selling players,' said Koeman. 'If
there is interest in Morgan Schneiderlin, then okay, but it has to be at a
price that the club wants.
He is one of the key
players of our team. He is an international player. But I don’t think that is a
problem for Man United.'
Schneiderlin was
denied a transfer last summer when Arsenal and Tottenham were interested,
because Saints had already sold Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert
to Liverpool, Luke Shaw to Manchester United and manager Mauricio Pochettino to
Tottenham.
The saints however coped well
despite the mass exodus, finishing seventh to qualify for the Europa League and
Schneiderlin performed also very well.
This year they are mpre than prepared for his exit and have already drawn up a list of possible replacements, with Feyenoord’s 24-year-old Dutch international Jordy Clasie top of the list.
Koeman said: 'Two
weeks ago we had a bid from Manchester United. It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t
serious and no more bids up to today.
