Former Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City striker Nicolas Anelka is the new player-manager of Mumbai City.

Former Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Arsenal player Nicholas Anelka has been appointed this morning as the player-manager of Indian league side Mumbai city. He has also taken the role of Mumbai City's Marquee signing after the departure of Freddie Ljunberg this indeed makes him eligible for a pay rise.

Anelka played for the Club last season making 7 appearances and scoring two goals under their former boss Stephen Reid. The much travelled Frenchman stated after the confirmation:
"I would like to say thank you to the Mumbai City FC staff for giving me the opportunity to coach the club," Anelka said.
His last club before moving to Mumbai city was West Bromich Albion  who terminated his contract in 2014 after he was  suspended for controversially performing a quenelle gesture while celebrating a goal
