Women's World Cup 2015: Group Stage over

The group stage matches are over. The 2015 Women’s World Cup knockout rounds are here. Some teams have quite a  favorable run through the bracket.

The Round of 16 sees the Americans play Colombia, who completed third in Group F. They were the 20th best team per WSPI entering the competition. A quarterfinal would see the U.S. play the victor of second-place finishers China (13th best) and Cameroon (19th best). None of those groups were positioned as high as the base positioned team in the U.S. group, our own Nigeria (12th best).

Should the U.S. achieve the semifinal, they would likely play the winner of Germany/France. In contrast, Germany will probably need to beat three of the WSPI rankings' main six teams (Sweden, France, U.S.) just to get to the final.
