Fifa Women's World Cup 2015: Canada, France Qualify for Quarter-Finals, Australia stun Brazil to join them

The Fifa Women's World cup is still on-going and Hosts Canada, France, Australia breaking their Knock-out jinx in Fifa Competitions all booked their places in the quaterfinals of the competition.
For the hosts, it was Josee Belanger who grabbed the vital second half goal which the canadians hung on too to at Switzerland's expense and booked their place in a quaterfinal game against  the winner of the upcoming Norway-England match in the next round. It was a game full of passion but also lacking in skill  as the adrenalin, turf and low level of both teams' play combined poorly on a scorching surface. Also, third-ranked France ensured that they would face No. 1 Germany in a quaterfinal showdown after steamrolling their South Korean Counterparts. The french  needed just eight minutes to impose their will on the Korea Republic on Sunday afternoon in Montreal. Goals from Marie Laure Delie and Elodie Thomis left the Koreans chasing shadows and put France on the road to a 3-0 victory in their Round of 16 match. See highlight..

Meanwhile Australia stunned Brazil to win first ever Knock-out stage game. Kyah Simon pounded home a close-range rebound after Luciana could not hold Lisa De Vanna's shot from the right and made football history for Australia in Moncton, New Brunswick on Sunday.
No Australian team -- male or female -- had won a World Cup knockout game before Simon's strike in the 80th minute produced a 1-0 victory over favored Brazil. Simon's goal also meant that the Aussies ended a knockout round losing streak against the South American champions, who had kayoed Australia in the elimination round each of the last two Women's World Cups.
The result sends Australia into a Saturday quarterfinal in Edmonton against the winner of Tuesday night's Japan-Netherland match. Off their defensive performance and their proven ability to spring counter-attacks when defenses make mistakes, they will head into the next round full of confidence. See Highlights...
