MATUIDI TO CHELSEA
Chelsea could certainly do with a central midfielder, and the Daily Star claim that Paris St Germain’s Blaise Matuidi is that man. They believe that Matuidi is to be John Obi Mikel’s replacement at the Bridge, and not before time.
Unfortunately, the whole thing seems to be based on the square root of very little. The Star report that the story is taken from tuttomercatoweb.com, but it only takes a little bit of investigation to realise what’s wrong there. A quick search on tuttomercatoweb reveals that their last story about Matuidi was on September 14. Ermmm?
LIVERPOOL CONTACT ANCELOTTI
Having started with tuttomercatoweb, we can now complete the set of Italian rumour peddlers by getting the latest word from calciomercatoweb. Imagine the fierce rivalry between those two.
That publication is claiming an exclusive on the claim that Liverpool have sounded out Carlo Ancelotti over the manager’s job at Anfield. Ancelotti has been out of work since being sacked by Real Madrid after failing to win the Champions League or La Liga title last season.
Despite Rodgers’ struggles at Liverpool, it would be a little naughty of the club to a) contact another manager, and b) let that news leak out.
BARCELONA WANT WALCOTT
Not had enough bulls**t yet? Missed your breakfast this morning? Well then read on, friend.
Germany’s Sport Bild have been reporting that Barcelona want to sign Theo Walcott in January, apparently attracted by his versatility and ability to play across the forward line. If he’s annoyed at not getting regular football ahead of Olivier Giroud, Theo ain’t seen nothing yet.
After selling Pedro to Chelsea and with Rafinha suffering a long-term injury Barcelona could do with another option, but I’ll give each of you a shiny penny if Walcott makes the move. Just not going to happen.
It’s not us that thinks that, with Sky’s Spanish bod Guilem Balague also calling bulls**t. So that’s probably that.
Walcott to Barcelona? Nahhh. It hasn't even been mentioned in the press conference.— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) September 22, 2015
