How to Buy from amazon and getting them shipped to you in Nigeria

How to Buy from amazon and getting them shipped to you in Nigeria

Well for those of us who don’t really know what Amazon is or about, I’ll just give you a very fast tip on what amazon’s really about. Amazon is an American retail shop and probably one of the largest if not the largest in the world. Does that ring any bells??..yea like jumia, Konga, e.t.c.
It's a global world nowadays and as 21st century Nigerians, there really is no limit to what we can do and need at any given time as companies keep on rebranding, producing, and improving various products across various niches and maybe before it was really hard to get the best deals from these famous retail shops  or that particular product locally but times are really changing as companies like amazon now make it possible to ship in items maybe at better price than your local retailer or not even available at your local retailer which is most times the case a lot easier even when it may have seemed impossible to get them in the past.

In the past, there were no Visa/Mastercard in Nigeria but now there are thanks to the growing economy and services now available in the Country. These card payment brands are the payment platforms which American based websites like Amazon normally accept and so as a Nigerian resident, you can pay for anything you want on Amazon except for very few services that still require a US billing address.
Presently, there are still limitations though on shopping on Amazon but this limitation is neither due to geographical location or billing address but mainly due to the shipping address. For issues relating to security, Amazon.com mostly ships to US states and don't really offer international shipping except for small stuff like DVDs and books. So, for now, Amazon doesn't offer direct shipping to Nigeria yet for most of their products but they can ship things like books and DVDs to Nigeria.

What do you do when you see that Playstation, laptop, tablet, Soccer boot or even your favourite club or National team Jersey that has just been released and you really want to buy and the price is good but the only problem you have is that Amazon will not ship to you in Nigeria? Well, there is a good and legit way round it and I've recently used it.
In order to get access to most of the other good stuff that are sold on Amazon, the world’s  biggest online store, one would need to also make use of a US re-shipping service.
Now its not complicated at all, cause at this point it might sound like that but a US re-shipping or mail forwarding service is basically a service that offers you a US shipping address and would receive any goods that you buy from US websites and then ships it to Nigeria for you using a courier service like DHL or Fedex. I personally recommend MyUS as with them, you can shop general US stores also auctions like eBay and I’ll also give you a little peep of what you stand to gain from their services.
MyUS.com has been helping shoppers and business owners’ alike shop without borders since 1997. They are the first, largest and most trusted leader today in international package consolidation, serving more than 200,000 customers in over 220 countries. MyUS.com makes shopping from US websites easy. Simply buy what you want and have it shipped to our facility in the United States for export processing. We will work with you and the retailer to have it exported quickly and easily.
They are also so flexible that even if a store doesn’t accept your mode of payment, you can use their Personal Shopper option where they buy it for you.
Another interesting thing about MyUs is that you can pay for their service with the Master and Visa cards issued by Nigerian commercial banks. Examples are: GTB Master and Visa Cards, UBA Mastercard, Zenith Bank Master Card and etc.
You would have to open an account with them and pay them in advance in order to ship it to you. You will also provide them with your Nigerian address during registration so that when shipping, they would know the Nigerian address they /would have to ship to. It’s as simple as that.
So, with a US shipping service and a Nigerian issued Visa or Mastercard, there really is no limit to what you can buy on websites like Amazon. The only extra fee you would have to pay for is the final shipping to Nigeria.
.You find out that a Shipping Rate calculator on your account page is used to ascertain the amount you are likely to pay on each shipping.
In case the store you wish to patronize won’t accept your method of payment, use MyUS Personal Shopper service. They help with stores and auctions such as eBay that may not accept your preferred payment method.
For example you spend around $80 to $100 to ship products like a laptop to Nigeria besides the price of the laptop which you’ll pay for at Amazon. When you calculate the total costs, it is actually a cheaper way of buying American products online than if you were to buy it locally in Nigeria. Besides, there are lots of stuff when I say lots of stuff I mean lots and lots which you’ll  not be able to see in the big  local Nigerian retailers which are readily available to be bought at Amazon.
One thing to consider though before buying and importing anything from the US to Nigeria is to ensure that it is not import prohibited by the Nigerian Custom services as it’ll just be a contraband. So You can check their website first to know the items you should not import noit to be in that situation.
I recently bought an Arsenal Jersey from Amazon which was shipped into Nigeria using DHL and also other readily available items which don’t necessarily count as contrabands includes laptops, memory cards, flash drives, Soccer boots, sneakers, mobile phones, solar panels, computer accessories, ready made clothing, watches, digital cameras, usb cables and so on.
