Newest PSG superstar recruit
Angel di Maria has blasted his former Manchester United manager Louis Van
Gaal's 'philosophy' and claimed he rowed with the Dutchman.
The Argentine
midfielder was brought in for a British record transfer fee of £60million last
summer but failed to adapt to life at Old Trafford in a short time and moved to
French Champions Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month in a £46 million deal.
He wasn’t
necessarily welcoming towards the veteran Holland boss’s Philosophy and confirmed he did not enjoy
working with the United boss.
'Van Gaal has his
philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that,' he said
on ESPN Radio Argentina.
'It is difficult to
adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him.'
He complained that he was happy earlier on at United with how things were going but after his hamstring
injury had to keep up with Mr. Van Gaal throwing him in various positions in the team.
Meanwhile his Argentine teammate and Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo's
long-term future at the Manchester club seems to be in doubt after he
also had a serious bust-up with boss Louis van Gaal.
The Argentine defender cost United £16million arriving in the same summer from Sporting
Lisbon, but has not figured in the squad once this season as Van Gaal has preferred
to use countryman Daley Blind alongside the in-form Chris Smalling.
He enraged Van Gaal
earlier this summer and was fined £140,000, which amounts to two weeks' wages,
after he failed to join up with United for their pre-season tour of North
America because of passport issues.
Tensions between the
pair have been building since then, with Van Gaal having raised concerns about
Rojo's fitness and it is understood the 25-year-old has clashed with his
manager over the way he has been treated.
It now leaves Rojo,
who played 60 minutes of a friendly against Ajax last Thursday, in a difficult
position, as Van Gaal would be considerably be open to the prospect of him leaving on deadline day.
Its been reported that he was put forward in discussions for terms between the club and Monaco over the deal for Antony Martial, Valencia also had registered an
interest in the fiesty defender before the Spanish deadline closed.
Despite his ongoing
problems, Rojo meanwhile would prefer to stay at the club.
'I have received
offers but my idea is to stay here [United] and fight for a position because it
is a great club,' he told ESPN Radio.
'I'll try to play as
much as possible. I talked to Van Gaal when I returned and was upset by
everything that had happened but he said he was counting on me.'
Recall that this kind of row led to Victor Valdez playing for the United kids and not even able to make the United bench. Would Rojo be the next big name casualty at Old Trafford? who knows...
