Liverpool kick started their preparations for next season in good stead as they dispatched a Thai selected 11 side 4-0 on Tuesday despite playing most of the second half under a heavy downpour.
Coach Brendan Rodgers gave five of six club new summer signings a start with Robert Firmimo the only one to miss out as he's still on holidays after the Copa America , this did not deter the reds though as goals from Markovic, Lallana, Sakho and Divock proved that Liverpool stamped their authority on what was a totally dominant game and after the loss of former winger Raheem Sterling you could say it was needed as it took him of the spotlight a bit and the club were back to business.
It took just three minutes for Lazar Markovic one of last summers recruits who is really yet to cut it at the Anfield giants to get things started after being played in by the impressive Joan Texeira who just returned from a loan spell at Brighton. He still had some work to do which he finally executed perfectly by rounding up the keeper and finishing up the move rather kindly. Texeira then set up Defender Mamadou Sakho for the second from a corner.
Rain came down heavily after the first half break with fans in the stadium scamping for shelter but the game went on though and Jordan Henderson in his first appearance after being named club captain executed a perfect rabona pass to his fellow England teammate Adam Lallana who just shifted the ball swiftly between his feet and shot low into the right corner while new signing Divock Origi headed home a powerful headed to make the scoreline 4-0. Liverpool play their next pre-season game against Brisbane Roar on Friday.
