Chelsea Captain and Leader JT
John Terry has said Petr Cech would save Arsenal between 12 and 15 points a season, if he makes the switch from Chelsea to the Emirates. The
Czech keeper is reportedly nearing a move to the Gunners, having lost
his place in the Blues goal to Thibaut Courtois last season.
Media reports this morning
suggest that Cech has agreed personal terms ahead of the potential
switch, leaving the two clubs to thrash out a fee for his services.
He has one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and while Terry says no-one wants to see him leave the club, he understands his desire for regular first-team football.
Speaking to talkSPORT , Terry said: “There’s talk of Arsenal signing Petr Cech and, if they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 or 15 points a season.
“Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left
out of the team it can be hard to accept but, when he came in [to the
side], he was exceptional.
“He deserves a lot of credit for that.
We understand he wants to play first-team football but nobody wants to
see him leave the club. He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve
any side he goes to.”
