Argentina thump Paraguay to arrange Copa America final with Chile

A drought will end on Saturday in  Santiago, Chile the only question now is whose drought? as both teams have had long waits for the title. Chile's dry spell dates far back as 99 years while Argentina's though better than Chile's is not so good too considering the quality of players they've been having over the years dates far back as 22 years. Well someone must be free from the shackles of drought. Argentina though with Messi at his inspirational best being involved in five of the six goals, seem to have finally come alive and what we know that deadly attack can do, we saw some glimpses last night. Though that defence can really do better.

CONCEPCION, CHILE - JUNE 30: Angel di Maria of Argentina celebrates after scoring the third goal of his team during the 2015 Copa America Chile Semi Final match between Argentina and Paraguay at Ester Roa Rebolledo Stadium on June 30, 2015 in Concepcion, Chile. Angel di Maria scored twice and added an assist as Argentina thumped Paraguay 6-1 on Tuesday. The triumph sent Argentina through to face Chile in the final on Saturday.

The Argentines pulled through in style as they thumped Paraguay 6-1 in the highest goalscoring match of the Mundial. Paraguay though got things off early threatening the Argentine defence who i must say still look shaky and uncomfortable. Garay was withdrawn from the starting line ups after complaining of a stomach bug this allowed Martin Demichelis to be reinstated into the team alongside Manchester United Nicholas Otamendi. Well the problem with the defence was more of personnel than more of balance with two attacking full-backs and two slow centre backs.

That said, it took a set piece in the 15th minute for Argentina to take the lead Messi whipped in a free-kick from the left for Demichelis. As the ball dropped, Marcos Rojo hooked the ball over the line. In the 27th minute, Pastore scored the games second goal.  Paraguay pulled a goal back though after that in the 43rd minute through Lucas Barrios . But early on in the second half the game was done and dusted after just 6 minutes of the restart it was already 4-1 with Di Marta netting twice. Aguero scored the fifth and Higuain scoring the sixth. Messi deserved a goal in this game but i think this all had to do with the role he plays for this team he is a terrific team player, the team's captain and was involved in five of the six goals scored.
