Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident of signing Manchester
United goalkeeper David de Gea, amidst reports he has confirmed that he
wants to leave the club.
De Gea's future has been in the balance for some time, with the Spaniard leaving a contract offer from United unsigned.
Last
month, Louis van Gaal admitted that his goalkeeper could leave: "He is
Spanish and his girlfriend is Spanish and he can go to another great
club, so it is difficult for him to decide. David De Gea shall not leave
us so easily because we are a great club and he wants to participate.
He is still behind Casillas but now a Spanish club is coming."
Both
the Daily Mail and The Sun report that Real Madrid are growing
increasingly confident of signing De Gea, with a mooted fee of over £25m
also mentioned.
'Understand United have lost the battle to keep De Gea move to Real all but done,' The Sun's Neil Custis tweeted on Tuesday.
United
have offered De Gea £200,000 to stay at Old Trafford, but the Spaniard
has been sold on the idea of replacing Iker Casillas for club and
country. His girlfriend and family still live in Spain.
